The Metropolitan Detention Center, where Sean “Diddy” Combs has been held since his arrest earlier this year, has been subjected to a federal sweep, resulting in the seizure of numerous banned items
The prison holding Sean “Diddy” Combs has been subjected to a federal sweep, resulting in the seizure of drugs, weapons, and electronic devices. The disgraced rapper, 55, has been detained at Brooklyn’s Metropolitan Detention Center (MDC) since his arrest in September.
He is currently facing a slew of federal charges, including sex trafficking, racketeering conspiracy, and transportation to engage in prostitution, all of which he fervently denies. As Diddy awaits his trial, scheduled for May 2025, he remains incarcerated in the notorious jail, which has been described as ‘hell on earth.’
Federal authorities initiated an interagency sweep of the MDC last Monday. However, the Bureau of Prisons clarified that this operation was not related to Combs – whose experience in the jail is said to be ‘sad’ and ‘lonely’ – but was “preplanned and coordinated to ensure the safety and security” of both prison staff and detainees.
The jail has been under severe scrutiny following the fatal stabbing of two men over the summer, leading to murder charges against five inmates. Furthermore, four other inmates and a guard have been charged with assaults relating to various incidents, including one where a man was stabbed 44 times by three gang members.
In a shocking revelation, an inmate was attacked with a homemade ice pick, suffering a stab wound to the spine. Additionally, a MDC corrections officer is now facing charges for firing at a vehicle during an unsanctioned high-speed pursuit, reports the Express US.
US attorney Breon Peace issued a stern warning: “Violence will not be tolerated in our federal jails.” He stressed that the recent indictments should act as a “warning to those who would engage in criminal conduct behind bars, and anyone else who facilitates those crimes: your conduct will be exposed, and you will be held accountable.”
